2nd ain't so bad.

So Greg's Grandpa was a second son.

Greg's Dad was a second son.

Greg is a second son.

And my little Tyson is a second son.

I love all four of these men for different reasons.
I met and fell in love with Grandpa Great before I met and fell in love with Greg.
Ya know those people that just ooze goodness? He was one of those people.
He was generous, loving and he was a winker..like me.
The company I worked for ordered calendars and pens from "Wally" and he would deliver them to us. I was his contact and was smitten with him the moment I met him.
He would saunter into the office carrying his supplies and would spend time talking with me. He would say things like, "I have lots of grand-sons" or "my grand-sons are single". I would smile and say something like, "If they're anything like you Wally, I'll take one of em."
He would wink at me and then whistle as he walked back out the door.
Little did I know, right?
Grandpa Dibble is the same. You instantly love him and he instantly makes you feel loved. He is patient, hard working and loves his family.
He is a good person. The grandkids adore him and I think people love to say that they know him.
He has the faith and strength to kick major trials to the side like some annoying pebble in his way. And he has such a lovely laugh and easy smile.
I am so happy to call him family.
And then there's my Gregory. How handsome is he? It took me about 7 1/2 minutes to know that I could marry him. He was easy to love and still is.
He has learned from these two men and learned well. He is an amazing father who loves and protects his children fiercely. I have no doubt that he loves me but I'm also pretty sure he that he likes me. His faith is steadfast and he has a tender and sincere love for the Savior. He is super selfless and the man makes one mean roasted marshmallow. I'm tellin' ya. It's like edible art. A gooey pot of marshmallowy goodness. The kids like him best. I love him most.

My little Tyson True is the easiest thing in the world to love. He is the only one of my children that looks somewhat like me. (sorry kid). He is spunky and smart and I adore him. He has some very good examples and I have no worries that he will be a good second son and will carry on the tradition**.

**sorry about that pressure I just put on you to give us two grandsons. I like second girls too.

No refunds or exchanges!!

So Greg has this really nice, watch that he loves.
He realizes one day that it is not working.
He changes the batteries..still no ticking.
He takes it to a watch shop and they can't fix it.
Greg gets mad that this 'supposedly' fantastic watch no longer works for him.
He takes it back to the manufacturer and insists on a new watch or his money back.
They happily oblige and he walks away with the newer, shinier model.

He's very happy.

Next thing I know, we're over at my parent's house.
He's saying things like, "doesn't work anymore" and "not what I agreed to".
He stands there fully expecting a refund or exchange.
And then my dad simply nods his head and pulls out his wallet and says,
"How much do I owe you"?

And then I woke up.
I've got to stop drinking Dr. Pepper before bed.
I'm gonna go make sure Greg's watch is working
and then I'm gonna do some laundry.

Disposable Zombie Mom

This was me over the weekend.

Not so pretty eh?
I was in bed all weekend.
I had Mastitis, a killer head cold
and a slight touch of the
Boo Hoos.
Not a great combo.
I was pretty much out from
Friday night to Sunday.
How does a family survive
without Mom?

They have a dad like him.
Yeah. He pretty much took over.
Not only did he get them all to their soccer games,
he got them there early. Yes, I said it,
the Dibbles arrived somewhere early.
He could have made cereal but
he made ham sandwiches.
He could have put on a movie
but he played games.
He only woke me up to feed the baby.
They made Quesadillas and Popcorn.
All children were put to bed happy.
Sunday morning he went to his meetings and choir
and came home and got everyone ready.
2 boys bathed...check.
3 girls hair done....check.
(he even straightened their hair)
Off to church.
They come home happy and hungry.
I say, "Oh, just do Macaroni and Cheese or
Ramen Noodles or cereal".
Oh no, not my Super daddy man.
He comes up with this.

You're probably thinking.....
What a great dad, husband, person, superhero guy.
You are right.
But I'm thinking.....
Oh crap!! Now they all know for sure that
they don't need me.

Hopefully he'll keep me around
for this part.

I'm feeling a little better today.

I'm still not quite myself.
Case in point...
I watched 'Star Wars' by myself.
Yeah, Greg wasn't even there.
Okay, 2 things about Star Wars...
1. I never realized how whiney Luke is.
2. Chewbaca and R2D2 are my favorite characters.
What does that say about me that I can't understand a
thing that my 2 favorite characters say?
I'll be better tomorrow.
I hope.
Here's to my Rockstar husband
and to modern medicine.
p.s. I hate fruit flies more than anything.

To scoop or not to scoop. That is the question.

So I love watching the National Dog Show every year. I just watched it Saturday and a beautiful Pointer named Hollyberry won. I love all the different breeds from the tiny toy poodles to the giant Great Dane. My personal favorite is the Komondor. You could just have him hang out in the kitchen and you would always have a spotless floor. I love how they run and how they look and the many different types of fur they have. And I'm fascinated by their tails. Why are some straight and some curly? Dogs are just fun, especially puppies. I like dogs. I cry every time I watch Old Yeller or Where The Red Fern Grows. From a very young age I have always been around dogs. I love watching the mommy dogs with their new puppies and I think dogs are so cute with other animals and especially around kids, (see above video). I watched this about 9 or 10 times because I thought it was so cute. How can you not think that dog was cute? Does this mean we will be getting a Boxer any time soon? Everyone say it with me, "NEVER"!! I think dogs are great.......for other people. From the time we met I have known that Greg would love to have a dog. From the time we met Greg has known that I don't ever want a dog. Luckily, he has recently seen some major doggie disasters and I have been victorious in this battle and plan on being so FOREVER. But now we have children and this brings me to my point. Now I have guilt. (said in Dinosaur from Toy Story voice.) I know that pets are great for kids. I had em' when I was a kid, so did Greg. They become part of the family and go on trips, ya get to pick out cool names for them. And I know it teaches kids responsibility and blah, blah, blah. But here's the thing, I remember getting annoyed at the dog as it walked across my face while I was trying to sleep on those trips. And I remember the dog barking at all hours of the day and night. And I don't remember ever feeding those pets. I'm sure my mom did it. Which brings me to my next point.
I'm Selfish. I don't want to be the one to get up with the dog to let it out. I don't want to take the dog out in the rain so it can get it's exercise. I don't want to clean up after a big dog or a little dog for that matter. (Oh who are we kidding? We all know Greg would be doing that. But still..) I would have to worry about kids stepping in something everytime they went outside. I would have to worry if the dog was starving. I would have to vacuum every surface many times a day because even the thought of dog hair in my couch makes me cringe. It also makes me feel like I have a hair in my throat. Ugh. I have 5 children and a husband people. I don't need good old Buster distracting me. Fred the fish is enough. So in the interest of my family and the time that a dog would require me to be away from them and their needs, I am getting off at this stop on the Guilt Trip Express. Now excuse me while I go clear my throat.
